Points to Keep in Mind When Buying Obsolete Electronic Components

Electronic items are full of so many tiny components that there is a possibility that something will eventually break in them. Components in a large circuit board can face some serious problems every now or then, simply because there may be so many points of potential failure in the device.

Thus, it becomes a necessity to buy obsolete electronic components. Tiny components like resistors and capacitors are required in large supply. Even if one of them has a little flaw, it can cause critical problems within the entire device, often damaging other parts.

Here are some points to keep in mind when buying electronic components.

Procurement Supplier Selection
Procurement policies and the suppliers create an opportunity to significantly reduce the risk of forged parts.
  • Manufacturer, Franchised Distributor or Agent
In some cases, forged devices may have filled the production flow of a genuine manufacturer. The distributors who sell electronic components should detect the defects and fraudulent products.
  • Independent Distributors
To avoid fraud components, check for the most enlightened ID. IDEA (Independent Distributors of Electronics Association) has created specifications and guidance documents for its customers, in order to reduce the possibility of counterfeit and fake components flowing through their organisations.

Receiving, Inspecting and Examining products

  • Paperwork Considerations...
  • Look for whether the products look genuine?
  • Are there any changes being made to amend quantities, screening levels?
  • Are there any strange font sizes which do not line up with the general layout.
  • Packaging Considerations...
  • Is the packaging used correct to protect components from any further issue.
  • Humidity indicator cards and dry packaging is required if parts are moisture sensitive.
  • Are the dimensions of the package correct.
Look for companies that will give their employees opportunities that benefit both the company and the customers. Choose companies that sell excess electronic components and strive to be the best in their niche.
